Jeff Wackerlin
Managing Editor Posted Friday, November 6, 2009
Meyers collected his 35th career win.
CONCORD, N.C. - Although he didn't gain any points on World of Outlaws points leader Donny Schatz, Jason Meyers kept his title hopes alive by winning the opening night of the World Finals at The Dirt Track at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Meyers, who grabbed his 35th career A-Feature win, actually lost one point to Schatz after the championship leader finished second and scored the five-point bonus for being the fastest qualifier.
After starting from the pole, Meyers led the opening two laps before Dale Blaney passed him for the lead. On lap five, Meyers retook the top spot and held off numerous charges from Schatz before ultimately taking the checkered flag.
“These guys did a great job tonight," Meyers said. “We didn’t have the best of qualifying nights last night and that shows the kind of team we... [Read More]

Kyle Busch The Victor At Texas
FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 6, 2009) -- If Kyle Busch enters a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, odds are better than 50-50 he'll win -- at least where the 2009 season is concerned.
Busch led the final 50 laps of Friday night's WinStar World Casino 350 at Texas Motor Speedway and won his fifth straight race in as many starts in the series.
The victory was Busch's seventh in 13 starts this season, the 16th of his career and his first at the 1.5-mile track. Matt Crafton ran second, .995 seconds behind Busch at the finish. Ron Hornaday Jr. came home third and left Texas with a 197-point lead over second-place Crafton in the series standings.
Hornaday can wrap up the series championship with finishes of 22nd or better in the final two events.
Todd Bodine ran fourth and Colin Braun fifth.
"It's an accomplishment to beat the 33 bunch... [Read More]

Four-time champ now has one Cup pole 17 years in a row
Sporting News Wire Service
FORT WORTH, Texas (November 6, 2009) -- Not since 1997 has Jeff Gordon won fewer than two poles in a Cup season. Never in 16 previous full seasons had he failed to win at least one.
After qualifying in the top spot Friday at Texas Motor Speedway, Gordon extended his record streak to 17 consecutive years. Gordon, who claimed his first victory at Texas in April, turned a lap at 191.117 mph to edge Kasey Kahne (190.975 mph) for the P1 starting position in Sunday's Dickies 500.
The pole was the 68th of Gordon's career and his first since the fall race at Texas last year.
It was particularly gratifying to Gordon, who had struggled at the 1.5-mile track before... [Read More]
