BST South 5-Day Swing Comes to a Conclusion

Broomfield, Colorado (August 1, 2012) -- The 5-day Leary Racing Products Blood Sweat and Tears (BST) South series swing came to a conclusion Tuesday night in Liberal, KS. The swing started with a night of racing in Dodge City, KS before a hop over the border was made to Beaver, OK. The final 3 days were held back on the Kansas side of the border in Liberal at the Five State Fairgrounds Speedway.

The first night in Dodge City Cody Gearhart jumped to the early lead with Grant Junghans, Brendon Gemmill and David Murray in tow. Junghans and Murray slipped by Gearhart shortly before the 100 th lap. After moving into second, Murray had mechanical failure and had to pull off. John Hansen was on a mission, as he had to come through the B Main, after missing his heat race, due to showing up late with truck problems. Hansen moved into third, but ran out of laps as Junghans scored the win over Gearhart, Hansen, Gemmill, and Troy Gemmill.

In the Stock Car feature, Colby KS driver Nick Tubbs raced around Shannon Maughlin for the big win. Maughlin was second over hard charging Perry Misner, Rodney Wadel and Billy Phelps.

Mike Wadel took the Sport Mod feature over Josh Appel, Mike Appel, Blane Walt and Jeremy Sigler.

The tour then crossed the Oklahoma border and visited Beaver County Raceway in Beaver OK.

Will Brack took the early lead in the Modified feature, and led until a late restart when he slid off the top of the track. Grant Junghans snuck by for the win, John Hansen snuck into second as Brack finished third over Justin O'Brien and Conner Pullen.

Ron Hartman took the Stock Car feature with Perry Misner in tow. Jason Taylor finished third over a hard-charging Mike Kennedy. Rodney Wadel was fifth.

Mike Wadel claimed the Sport Mod feature with Jeff Kaup, Bobby Jo Scott, Clay Sellard, and Daylon Bergeron following.

The tour then went back into Kansas, and finished off with three days of racing in Liberal.

Troy Gemmill took the first nights Modified feature with Will Brack in close tow. Justin O'Brien finished third over David Murray Jr and Wyoming's David Karst.

Ron Hartman was lucky to even finish, after an early collision knocked his front suspension loose, but he took another Stock Car victory with Billy Phelps right behind him. Randy Dowell was third over Perry Misner and Scott Kraus-Mahan.

Douglas Gillespie claimed the Sport Mod feature with Jeff Kaup coming home second; Bobby Jo Scott was third over Mike Wadel and Bart Baker.

The teams were at it again on Monday night in Liberal with Will Brack taking the win. Brack had his hands full of Brendon Gemmill. Grant Junghans was third over Conner Pullen and Cody Gearhart.

Ron Hartman took his third Stock Car win of the swing. Perry Misner was second over Rod Wadel, Mike Wilson and Billy Phelps.

Also collecting their third win of the swing was Mike Wadel in the Sport Mods. Wadel took the win over Jeff Kaup, Bart Baker, Humberto Rocha, and Rance Schindler.

The last night in Liberal saw Cody Gearhart and Will Brack battle for the win in the Modified feature. Gearhart edged ahead for the win over Brack, Conner Pullen and Troy Gemmill. Brack won the 3-day championship.
Jason Taylor broke Ron Hartman's win streak in the Stock Car feature. Randy Dowell crossed in second ahead of Rodney Wadel, Ron Hartman and Mike Wilson. Hartman took the 3-day championship.

Mike Wadel took his fourth Sport Mod win in 5 days as he beat out Jeff Kaup, Bobby Jo Scott, Bart Baker and Humberto Rocha. Wadel and Kaup tied for the 3-day championship, bue due to his two wins, Wadel was awarded the championship.

The series will finish up August 25 th in Dodge City, KS.
