Hobby/Econo Ideas for CMP

Joe wants to get some opinions on the Hobby's and Econos at CMP. Plain and Simple 8 cars isnt cutting it, plus whats gonna happen come June 1 when we switch over to the street tires? So therefore, Joe wants OPINIONS! This is for the Hobby's and Econos. What do you guys think about letting the Hoosiers run for the rest of the year and then in the winter, doing the switch. Wed still need the IMCA License and be IMCA Sanctioned, (the insurance alone). Joe's talking to IMCA and there willing to work with us to give everyone the time. They know the Economy sucks and they want to help see CMP grow.

What are your opinions on this? Do you think adapting Econos for this year will grow more cars for now. Everyone is leery about the switch, they dont want to spend 700-800 to race against 4 cars.

Joe and I will be watching this thread. PLEASE KEEP ALL COMMENTS POSITIVE IN GROWING THE DIVISION AT CMP. Wouldnt it be cool to see 20 Econos/Hobbys out there. That will give everyone time to switch over and seeing 20 cars will possibly get everyone to switch over.

Thanks
Geoff Briggs/Joe Bellm

This is for the Econos. IMCA Stocks, Joe has the tires, you can get used tires from the Mod guys and throw on a 200.00 carb. The street tire and 7 inch rim for Hobbys is pushing everyone back for right now I believe.

Lets get some opinions and do what we need to do to get full fields at CMP.

If the track would be willing to let us run our econo cars as they are right now until the end of the season that would allow me to put 2 cars towards the car count for this Hobby class. Just finished 2 brand new econos and will be making the drive to Ft. Morgan due to the fact that I am ready to race now not have my cars sit around till i can afford to make the IMCA legal. So the option I am asking for is the 500 cfm carb as well as our 8 inch rims with the hoosiers.

thats fine with me as long as the illegal cars are not getting the imca points becasue that is not right or fair to the cars in the state of colorado that are legal although, im not real sure why tires are the big worry here why dosent cmp focus on making sure motors are comparable because no one wants to run aginst a 383 or high compression 355, when they are running a IMCA legal motor and at the most can run a 360 that isnt much when a stock motor is 8.5:1 compression and the imca limit is 9:1 i dont think the tires should be that big of a concern. I know for a fact that the 2 "illegal" cars are not running 383s. One is running a 305 and leading the points and the other is running a stock 350. I say let them run together for now. I've seen true IMCA Hobby Stocks beat Econos on 10 inch tires. Look at Angel Munoz. He beat Chris Cox the first race and Chris was on the 10 inch tire.

heres something to ponder............run econos n imca hobbys together. have 2 different winners, etc and only the imca legal cars get sent to imca. the rest be econos and run the e so we can clarify, if we get 10 cars in hobbys and 10 in econo then seperate the cars into different races.

keep the ideas coming........thanks!

Mr. Badwrench02

I think it is a good idea for Hoosier tires, 8" wheels and Holley 500 carburetor. It will probalby bring the car count up, even bring in some Enduro cars. There is a lot of 8" wheels and Hoosier tires available. Get the car count up until they get the track off the ground. For the 2011 season go to the IMCA rules. That will give every body a chance to perpare for the IMCA rules.

Having two sets of rules WILL NOT WORK!!! I can speek from experiance on this one (if nothing else). Three weeks ago when I finished the Enduro race in first place on tires that I was told were OK and then to have the trophy (which would have been my very first) taken away from me just ruined the whole day, so having two winners is stupid. JMO I dont mean to sound harsh but make one set of rules ,tech and enforce those rules. With that said if you go with Econo rules there is alot more chance of getting more cars out there that are ready/ already running and wont have to spend alot of money that most of us dont have. A 500 cfm Holly or Rochester with 8 inch rims and hoosiers. If you dont want to or cant afford to change to hoosiers you can run any rim/tire combo smaller than that. Joe will have to talk to IMCA to figure out a point system but if he wants to make "Econos" just track points and if and when legal "Hobbys" show up they can recieve IMCA points. Another thought to seriously think about is making Racecievers mandatory in ALL classes. Again JMO for what its worth

greg which 2 cars are you talking about? jw because i have been told by the owner of a econo that he is running a higher compression motor and im thinking he is top 3 or so in points. tires dont do that much let em run the hooisers just make em run the rest of the rules. thats my thoughts id tech saftey tho i havent ever seen any saftey checks at cmp
