Kyle Cuckow Gets First Feature at I-76

May 18, 2013 race recap.
I-76 Speedway dodged a storm Saturday night and provided great racing action from over 90 cars.
The Dwarfs had a tough time getting laps in without a yellow flag. Alex Amen took an early lead and managed to avoid spinouts a flip into the guard rail and another altercation with the wall. He finished first ahead of Chris Walker and Brady Dilka.
The Colorado Outlaw’s Johnny Boos took the win right out of the sites of Robert DeRochey who led the race for seven laps. Lance Bennett and Nick Hankens battled for second and Lance prevailed with Nick in tow.
The Modifieds had a twenty two car field on hand and Zach Hilzer shot out to take the early lead. He led for the entire race when in the last lap Jeremy Frenier passed him on the top and celebrated another victory. John Burrow Jr. drove a smooth race and finished third ahead of Greg Gustus.
Congratulations to first time “Feature Winner” Kyle Cuckow driving the 97C IMCA Sport Mod. Jacob Adler fought his way from the 12 spot to finish second just ahead of Becky Dechant. Tom Quint finished fourth
John Hansen shot to the lead from the pole position in the Late Models with Scott Lewis outside. Dave Garmann was busy working through traffic from the eighth spot to finish third with DJ Banks and Scott Slama close behind
In the Econo Stock feature Ken Robbins got the jump at the beginning, and led the whole race with Kraig Thomas finishing second and Tim Garmann finishing in the three spot. Brian Cross finished fourth.
Cody Hall Beat out Mike Rickett for the flag in the hornet division, with Lance Brandt finishing third.
The Hooligans rode in and first man to reach the speedway was also the first man to cross the finish line. Kevin Wells rode the #91 Motorcycle from Morrison to take home a trophy. Finishing second and third were Jason Genson and Jeff Klinkenfus both riding from Golden.
Our next race will be held on June 1st when the RMMRA Midgets and the Rocky Mountain Lightning sprints come to town.
