Thank you Rick Salem and the U.R.S.S.
This has been an interesting week for the Sprint Car community in this region, and I’m sure most everyone had the opportunity to read the various posts and forums and draw their own conclusions. My intention is NOT to add to that debate, but to instead look forward to the remaining races in this season, as well as many in the future. I believe in the overall direction of the sanctioning body and strongly support Rick’s decision this week.
As 305 Sprint Car racing continues to grow, we are seeing steady additions to car counts, race tracks and even sanctioning bodies throughout this portion of the country. I believe we have a good base in this area, which will benefit from the overall growth of the sport. The U.R.S.S. competitors I’ve spoken to this week have similar feelings, and I look forward to working together to make this sport the best it can be, and provide the best show possible for everyone to come out and watch. |

The URSS (305 Sprint cars), the RMLSA (1000 cc Lightning Sprints) and The RMMRA (Midgets) all raced on the same night last Saturday at El Paso County Speedway.
Walking thru the pits seeing roughly 50-60 open wheel cars in attendence, and watching all the racing was something we in Colorado rarely see all in one night. I am first and foremost an open wheel dirt fan. I would LOVE to see all three of these divisions race on the same night many times in the future. All three Associations are on and off track a great bunch of racers. Many do not understand how hard it is to be a part of running any of these organisations. Rarely is everyone happy, but I hope all involved (racers and fans) enjoy what we do on the track nearly every weekend. We (the car owners and drivers) love to do it, and the fans sure love to watch it. I commend all involved in running these organizations, and the track promoters for all their hard work. Dirt open wheel racing is a great thing. In Colorado we have only a few months a year to enjoy it, and only a few places to do it. Enjoy it and tell your friends how much you enjoy it. We always need more fans to support the tracks that support the racers. Steve Becker RMLSA car #31 |

Thanks Jeff and all the URSS drivers who supported my decision. The worst part of this deal is I feel really bad for the Colorado racers that won't get to race this weekend but I think they all understood I had to make the decision I did to protect there best interests. I appreciate all you guys do out there to support this series and stick together as a group. Thanks everyone !!!

Rick i have seen you first hand try to make the best show possible for your guys. Like the first time you raced at CMP. I know you did not back down to get what you thought was fair for the racers. I was glad to see a good show and wish i could go see more evne thought most of the show i saw were from the flag stand. BUt none the less Rick and the URSS do put on a good show. Keep up the Good work RIck.
