URSS Rebels head to Utah for two-day show

OBERLIN, Kan. (June 12, 2012) — Allen Hacking is expecting a big crowd for Friday and Saturday's races in Vernal, Utah. That's reason enough to have the promoter at Diamond Mountain Speedway smiling. And a big reason why Hacking is smiling is because the United Rebel Sprint Series will be making a return trip to the quarter-mile track. “We have a lot bigger crowds where we have two-day shows,” he said. “People can see what we can do.”

The Rebels have competed four times at the track since 2009. Last year, Tim Perkins won the only race in Vernal, while Sid Blanford (twice) and Patrick Bourke have accounted for the other victories. Diamond Mountain Speedway is the only track the Rebels compete on in Utah. “We're just trying to get people to understand what sprint cars are around here,” Hacking said. “There's not a lot of them around here.”

Fans will get a good chance to learn more about the URSS and its drivers, thanks to the two-day show.

“We're excited to have them here, and it should be a good show,” Hacking said. “They've put on a good show in the past. Now, the first day they can get really dialed in, and the second day they should really be able to go.”

A total of 23 different drivers have competed in Colorado Region races this season in the URSS. Races both nights are set for 7 p.m.
