Jack Hewitt's son injured in crash

Please keep Jack & Jody Hewitt in your prayers.

2 hurt in 4-vehicle wreck near Troy

CONCORD TWP., Miami County | Two motorcycle riders from Ludlow Falls were injured Friday in a four-vehicle crash on Ohio 55 at Wilson Road west of Troy, the county sheriff's office said.

Cody Hewitt, 21, and Ruthann Myers, 25, were headed west on Ohio 55 at 1:23 p.m. when a car headed east tried to turn left on Wilson and entered their path. The motorcycle slammed into the car, vaulting the riders into a car headed east, sheriff's Sgt. Ben Fisher said.

They hit the pavement several times, with Myers coming to rest beneath an eastbound pickup that had stopped about 70 yards from the crash.

Hewitt, who lost an arm in the wreck, and Myers, who severely injured her leg and arm, were in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

Betty Parrish, 82, who was driving the car, and her passenger, Joseph Parrish, 69, both of West Milton, were taken to Upper Valley Medical Center, where she was treated and released. The hospital had no record of him.

The other driver, Sarena Simpson, 37, of West Milton, suffered minor injuries and was not admitted to a hospital.

Fisher said there was at least some fault on the part of the first car, but that the sheriff's office also was investigating the motorcycle's speed. Both riders wore helmets.
