$100,000 sick day
Elliot Sadler would show up at Chicago suffering for 3 days with flu like sysptoms, like many who work Sadler strapped into the #2 Huntz Brother Pizza Chevrolet and went to work. After all he had a chance for an extra $100,000 dollars if only he could win.
"I'm still not 100 percent, but it feels good to win here in Chicago," Sadler said. "My wife and I came here with another couple, which also happens to be my doctor, and we had to put him to work."We drank a lot of fluids and I had to have a few IVs just to stay hydrated." Sadler along with Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Austin Dillon, and Sam Hornish Jr. all had qualified for the Dash4cash program sponsored by Nationwide Insurance the title sponsor for the NASCAR Nationwide series is promoting for select races. Here's how the Dash 4 Cash program works: The top four finishers to receive Nationwide Series championship driver points at Daytona will qualify for the first D4C race at New Hampshire. The highest finisher of those four drivers at NHMS -- he or she does not have to win the race -- will win the $100,000 D4C award payout and automatically qualify for the next event at Chicagoland. Additionally, the top three finishing drivers to receive championship driver points at NHMS also will qualify for the next event at Chicagoland. Those rules will apply for the remaining three events. If one driver wins the three previous D4C awards and wins the Iowa race outright, Nationwide Insurance will award an additional $600,000 bonus, bringing the total payout to $1 million. Sadler would inherit the lead with 28 laps remaining when a Brad Sweet spin resulted in a caution. The caution caught most of the top runners just after pit stops. A crash between Kyle Bush and Sam Hornish would bring out the yellow flag and have the race finishing under a green, white, checkers. On the restart Sadler would see Ricky Stenhouse who led the most laps and worked his way up into the second spot just before the caution along with Justin Allgaier. Sadler would get the jump at the green and Allgaier and Stenhouse would race side by side to decide the second place. . NASCAR CHICAGOLAND NATIONWIDE SERIES RACE RESULTS 1. (15) Elliott Sadler 2.
