RMR Utah announces 2012 Season Opener

Rocky Mountain Raceways (RMR), Utah announces 2012 Season Opener

by: Russ Sala Jr.

Rocky Mountain Raceways - May 2, 2012 (West Valley City, UT) It seems like only yesterday that RMR was crowning our final champions of the 2011 season. And now, race fans are literally only days away from a Saturday night May 5th kickoff of our 16th season on the 1/3-mile America First Credit Union Super Oval.

Our season opener will feature the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series (Late Models) and the ultra-competitive Maverik Modifieds (ASA sanctioned). Both of those series will be joined by our Super Stocks, Hornets, and the H&E Equipment Figure 8 Trains.

RMR always look forward to our first event of the season because race teams are all on the same level when it comes to points. Of course that all changes as the season continues onward; but, it is still interesting to watch a team or two suddenly “figure it out” and become a championship contender.

The one thing RMR has learned about motorsports is that when a race team puts together the right combination, with a little luck going their way, that team becomes an instant contender for a possible championship.

And the race teams that will put together a true title run are those who have worked vigorously throughout the winter to make that goal happen. These are the programs that during the week of the season “thrash” on their cars to keep them competitive. The bottom line is, they have to. They have to stay ahead of other race teams who also have their eye on that big prize at the end of the season.

Remember, race teams just don’t take their cars home after a respective night of racing and put a tarp over them and that’s it. They have to work on their race cars to try and get better week in and week out. Not to mention, race teams have to be willing to try new things on their race cars to make them better.

RMR is looking forward to seeing all of our race fans this Saturday night May 5th at Rocky Mountain Raceways (RMR) to help us kickoff the 2012 season in style.
