PEORIA, ARIZONA (March 13, 2010) - Jeep Berry of Grand Junction, Colorado traveled to his first race for the 2010 season with his GRT Race Cars Super Dirt Late Model. He ended up going to one of the premiere dirt tracks in Arizona at the Canyon Speedway Park located in Peoria, Arizona for the season opener of the Total Seal Piston Rings SWDRA Late Model Series, which brought in 19 Super Dirt Late Models and the winner would take $1500 back home.
Berry won a SWDRA event back in 2002 at the Duke City Raceway in Albuquerque, New Mexico, so, he is familiar with the series. Two-time WDRA champion, Jeep Berry started off with getting the second fastest lap of the night during qualifying.
During hot laps, the track was really heavy, slimy, and with a cushion on the top, so, that meant the track was going to be really fast that night. Berry was seen in the first heat race of three. Berry started third and would get to the lead in less than two... [Read More]
TUCSON, Ariz. (March 13, 2010) - The Discount Tire Co. ASCS Canyon Region kicked off the 2010 season in dramatic style with Dave Darland making a last-lap pass of R.J. Johnson to win Saturday night's 25-lap main event at USA Raceway.
For the Triple Crown champion driver from Indiana with more than 200 career feature wins, the victory aboard the BRAT Racing/Parker Motorsports No. 8 marked his first under the ASCS banner.
Darland stole the win from Johnson, who had checked out on his ASCS Canyon Region rivals aboard Bill Michaels' No. 77m entry. Even when the yellow flag flew with five laps remaining, Johnson still had a handful of cars separating himself from Darland and company.
Darland took to the top side of the 3/8-mile oval though, disposed of the lapped cars in short order and then raced around Johnson in the upper reaches of turns one and two on the final circuit to snare the victory.

Tony Schumacher added a fourth Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals trophy to his collection to highlight a record-setting day in Gainesville. He was joined in the winner’s circle by Tim Wilkerson (Funny Car), Jason Line (Pro Stock), and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle).
Those victories capped an incredible day of action that included two national speed records, a national e.t. record, numerous runs that rank in the top 10 of all time, and more career bests. The speed records in both nitro classes fell during the day. After his teammate Cory McClenathan posted a 322.50-mph lap in the opening round, Schumacher blew it away with a 324.98-mph shot in the semifinals. He backed the run up with his 322.04 in the final to set a new national mark for speed. Matt Hagan, who had the previous best speed in Funny Car, became the new record holder in Funny Car with his 316.15-mph pass... [Read More]
SÃO PAULO, Brazil (March 14, 2010) – Will Power overtook Ryan Hunter-Reay in Turn 11 on Lap 58 of 61 to win the IZOD IndyCar Series season opener.
Power, driving the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske car, won by 1.8581 seconds. Vitor Meira was third, followed by Raphael Matos, Dan Wheldon and Scott Dixon. PEAK Pole Award winner Dario Franchitti finished seventh.
Power and Meira suffered 2009 season-ending injuries (Power in August, Meira in May), and both wound up on the podium.
The race was red-flagged for 36 minutes after a thunderstorm swept over the Anhembi section of the city, and it became a timed race.
Within the race:
Before the rain, more people were watching this race than any other program in Brazil, according to TV Bandeirantes’ real-time ratings.
Hunter-Reay led for the first time since 2008 at Watkins Glen International – a race he won.
Chris Eggleston is out with SS Green Light this weekend getting ready for his 1st race with NASCAR Camping World Trucks on March 27, 2010 at Martinsville Speedway.
Friday, Chris spent the whole day in the shop and office, etc. with the team; busy mounting his seat, drug testing, etc.
Saturday, they are at the Track - Testing:
SS Greenlight Racing has 3 drivers there testing - Veteran Driver Jason White (who had pole for Daytona), Tony Jackson & Chris.

Jason Sides drives as hard as he can anytime he takes to the race track, whether it’s for hot laps, time trials, a heat race, a dash or a main event. On Saturday night at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas, he drove 40 of the hardest and best laps he has ever turned as he and Tim Kaeding put on a phenomenal show at the ¼-mile bullring trading slide jobs lap after lap as they worked their way through traffic. In the end, Sides came out on top in the thrilling battle to win The Texas Showdown which was his first victory of 2010 and the fifth of his World of Outlaws career.
While there were only two official lead changes at the line, Sides and Kaeding swapped the top spot countless times over the course of the 40-lapper, sometimes multiple times on the same lap as they weaved in and out of traffic in an event that had just one caution on the third lap and went the remaining 37 circuits...
